What is Tawas?
Tawas is a naturally occurring salt deposit containing Potassium Aluminium. There are about five places where these natural deposits accumulate but Tawas (a Philippino name) only comes from the island of Cebu in the Philippines and is especially effective. Our Tawas has been purified to remove foreign substances that can irritate the skin.
Various forms of Aluminium are used in commercial deodorants throughout the world. Standard commercial products, however, typically contain animal bi-products and various chemicals to preserve and add odor to them. Tawas is all natural and contains none of these things.
Salt has a uniquely powerful ability to kill bacteria. Thats why modern meat curing rooms are lined with it and peoples throughout history cure fish and pork (among other things) with it.
Thats why it works so well as a skin deodorant. Tawas kills the bacteria that are responsible for body odor without irritating your skin. What else can you do with it?
You can crush it up, submerge the small crystals in water and after a couple of days apply the water to your feet or other areas where rubbing the large crystal may not be practical.
